So, I'm a blogger......

So, I'm a blogger....What persuaded me to start blogging? Well, I think it was my recent trip to India. I was in India for 6 months and did not blog! Now people are asking me what I did over there and what life was like and I wish I had kept a regular record of my experiences! In a nutshell it was an amazing adventure and I'll write more about that later, in blogs to come.

I heard about blogging about 3 years ago. What took me so long? First, I feel that I need to give a disclaimer about blogging and my initial hesitation about joining the blogging world. What initially turned me off to blogs (writing or reading them) was the idea of communicating to friends and family via a blog instead of calling or emailing or keeping up with people in some other, more interactive way. It seemed kind of cold, distant - and frankly, kind of lazy. Like the relationship that you have with the person on the receiving end isn't important enough for you to maintain regular, interactive contact with. The first time someone sent me a link to their blog, I was kind of put off, offended. But now, some years later, I realize that blogging is a nice way to journal about what's happening in life - about activities and thoughts. But it definitely shouldn't take the place of emailing, calling or putting notes in the mail! I want that to be my mantra. I don't want my friends and family to think that the only way they'll know what's happening in my life is by reading my blog! That would be going too far!!
