Student Loans paid off!

After 7 years, today I finally paid my VERY LAST student loan payment! Yahoooo!!

Was it worth it? Yes, definitely. I'm not a fan of debt, but there are some things that are worth being in debt over - one is the purchase of a house. The other is education - investing in yourself and your future. Wheaton wasn't cheap by a long shot. I worked while in school, received some grants and still graduated with $30,000 in debt. And tuition has gone up since I left. But I do feel that I got a quality education. It was worth it. Wheaton challenged me both, spiritually and academically (intellectually). That's what I needed at the time. It's funny, to this day I run into Wheaties all over the place - at work, at church, in different countries! Especially in the Christian sub-culture, it tends to be a VERY small world. But I am glad to be part of the Wheaton family. World Relief board members and staff people in leadership are Wheaton alum. Our previous CEO was an alum as is our current Asia Regional Director. Alums have also been senators. And then there's one of our most famous alum, Billy Graham - who went to the Wheaton grad school - as did my boss; and missionaries Jim and Elizabeth Elliott. Jim died on the mission field and Elizabeth is well known for her many of her books. Saint and Elliott dorms on campus are named after them...
